Dell D610

This our first DELL D610 Latitude laptop that we purchased used in 2007. This laptop was my main computer. Out of all of the computers we are offering for sale, this one includes the most variety in operating systems as well as the largest multitude of software.

The hardrive size in this D610 is huge at 240 GB and it is seperated [partitioned] into 7 sections to be able to run 4 operating systems: Windows XP Professional, OSx86 (10.5.6), ArtistX (Ubuntu) Linux, and Puppy Linux. XP uses 30 GB of hardrive space, OSx86 uses 40 GB, ArtistX uses 18 GB, and Puppy uses 12 GB. The last partition is an NTFS-formatted 140 GB partition intended for file storage and file transfers between operating systems. (This technique was very usful for working with the files of multi-platform software.) The other 2 remaining sections of the hardrive are a boot partition and a "swap" partition that the Linux OSes use.

This laptop sale includes the D610 power adapter and a laptop case. I highly recommend purchasing a replacement power adapter and a replacement battery for this laptop for the following reasons: 1. The battery status light of the laptop has recently been flashing orange which indicates that the battery is close to the end of its usable life. 2. The cord of the power adapter is beginning to wear thin and occasionally affects that laptop's ability to recognize/identify the power adapter. You can purchase a new battery here, and you can purchase a new power adapter here. Additionally, a common problem with the D610s as they get older is that the power connection port starts to wear out and therefore the power adapter doesn't always make a solid connection. The power adapter will supply power to this D610 and charge the battery if some kind of wedge if used to push the the connected power cable upward. [I can demonstrate this if you're interested in checking out this D610 in person. I've been told by computer techs that this is an easily and usually inexpensively repairable problem.]
